Please find below the training activities the Coordination Unit of GBIF Spain has planned for 2023. In some cases, the provided dates are approximate. This year, we are returning to normality in training activities, both virtual and on-site. For detailed information on past training activities, please refer to the section on activities<\/a> organized by GBIF Spain.<\/p>\n

Enrollment in training activities does not entail any cost. The selection of admitted applicants is based on what they contribute or can contribute to the overall goals of GBIF and the national node, as well as the specific characteristics of each activity.<\/p>\n

The \u201cmore information\u201d links, which lead to the complete details of each workshop, will become active as the workshop dates approach and their contents are confirmed.<\/p>\n

Biodiversity inventories: repositories of information on biodiversity (BLH, IPNI, Catalogue of Life, OBIS, WFO, ZooBank, etc.)<\/h3>\n

This webinar will provide participants with an overview of various information repositories for studying biodiversity. Resources such as Biodiversity Heritage Library (BHL), International Plant Names Index (IPNI), Catalogue of Life, Ocean Biodiversity Information System (OBIS), World Flora Online (WFO), and ZooBank will be explored, showcasing their scope and usefulness for research, decision-making, and environmental management.<\/p>\n

I GBIF.ES Workshop: Biodiversity data collection in the field<\/h3>\n

Concepts and best practices for field data collection across various scenarios (research, citizen science, government) using three mobile applications: ZamiaDroid, iNaturalist, and GVA BDB. Data processing for publication and integration with a focus on GBIF platforms. Using tools for data visualization, including practical field exercises.<\/p>\n

XVII GBIF.ES Workshop: Ecological Niche Modeling<\/h3>\n

In this practical workshop, participants will study the concepts and techniques required to create species distribution models using the statistical software R. To participate in the workshop, it is necessary to have at least a user-level knowledge of the R and RStudio computer tools, as well as geographic information systems.<\/p>\n

I GBIF.ES Workshop: Improving biodiversity data quality: tools for data quality control, from capture to publication, and use in the GBIF context<\/h3>\n

This course is focused on providing participants with skills to ensure the quality and reliability of biodiversity data throughout the process. Using practical techniques and specialized tools, participants will learn to identify and correct common errors, standardize data terminology and formats, and evaluate dataset integrity and coherence. This workshop will offer a detailed understanding of best practices for data quality improvement, preparing participants to optimize the value and utility of biodiversity data in scientific research, decision-making, and conservation.<\/p>\n

VIII GBIF.ES Workshop: Digital Images for Biodiversity Studies<\/h3>\n

This workshop will cover the process of capturing, managing, and publishing digital images of collection specimens and other images related to biodiversity research projects on the internet. This includes slides, microscopic preparations, and more.<\/p>\n

The topics to be covered will span from the necessary equipment and its setup (optics, lighting, etc.), capture techniques, and image processing to the (meta)data to be collected for publication.<\/p>\n

I GBIF.ES Workshop: Using biodiversity data for decision-makers: transforming biodiversity data into management tools (e.g., IUCN categories)<\/h3>\n

This workshop is designed to provide participants with the skills to utilize biodiversity data strategically in decision-making affecting ecosystems and wildlife. Through practical exercises and case studies, participants will learn to collect, analyze, and interpret biodiversity data from various sources. VI GBIF.ES online workshop: Management, visualization and analysis of ecological data by using R software (beginner level)<\/h3>\n

This workshop is aimed to provide participants the basics to know how to use the R software to manage, visualize and analyse ecological and biodiversity data. It will deepen in those competencies allowing to be an efficient user of the tool.<\/p>\n
