Last April 30, we hosted the\u00a0Identificatona<\/a>, the identification party (ID Party) from the Biomarat\u00f3n Madrid, which took place in the LAB 1 of\u00a0MediaLab Prado<\/a> (Madrid City Council). The main goal of this event was identifying what species we can find in the city and it was part of an international friendly challenge, the City Nature Challenge<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

The activity gathered a small group of experts and amateur people who have good knowledge of different biological groups, helping to identify the almost 5,000 observations registered during the Biomarat\u00f3n Madrid. All these observations were uploaded to the citizen science platform Natusfera<\/a>, specifically to the project Biomarat\u00f3n Madrid (CNC 2019)<\/a>.<\/p>\n

During the event, Santiago Soria<\/strong> -Chief of the Biodiversity Service of the Madrid City Council-, talked about biodiversity and the importance of getting access to a large variety of data in order to optimize the management of green areas in the city. Later, Luis Molina<\/strong> -Chief of the Environmental Education Department of the Madrid City Council-, highlighted the usefulness of the Biomarat\u00f3n Madrid, which has been the most important event of the\u00a0“H\u00e1bitat Madrid<\/a>” Programme.<\/p>\n

All participants worked together and exchanged their own experiences from 4 to 7,30 pm, and 25% of the registered observations got the research degree, meaning they will be published in the GBIF network in the future.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
