E-Learning
The e-learning platform of GBIF.ES has been operating since 2010, and since then, dozens of online courses have been taught. Up to now, training has been provided to more than 500 students from 15 countries.
The well-established training infrastructure, the courses offered, the network of teachers created, and the recognition achieved by GBIF Spain over these years provide an excellent foundation for expanding the impact of this knowledge in all aspects related to biodiversity data publication, management, and exploitation. E-learning platforms constitute an optimal pathway to achieve this goal and are mature enough to facilitate both online access to developed materials and the delivery of distance-learning courses.

Currently, there is still a perceived scarcity of these types of resources in Spanish, and the need for them exists not only in Spain but also in regions like Latin America, where this scarcity combines with the concentration of biodiversity hotspots and an expanding scientific capacity with tremendous potential.
