Technicians from the Government of Catalonia trained in using GBIF data portals

Two sessions of the workshop Use and management of GBIF international and national data portals taught by Katia Cezón and Miguel Vega (GBIF Spain) took place on 21-22 November, in the headquarters of the Territory and Sustainability Department of Barcelona, and gathered 31 environmental technicians from the Government of Catalonia.

This workshop was mainly focused on how to use the National Biodiversity Data Portal (https://datos.gbif.es/?lang=en), based on the ALA technology. Some functionalities of this portal were shown, such as how to make simple and spatial searches, how to customize searches by using filters, how to download data and ways to explore data and their taxonomic coverage in a specific area. The workshop, which was delivered in Spanish, was positively valued by the participants, who considered the hability of accessing to all this information as very useful for their work on managing protected natural areas.

All presentations and exercises from this workshop are available at the workshop website (just in Spanish): https://gbif.es/talleres/portales-datos-generalitat/.
