Diputació de Barcelona, the latest GBIF.ES provider
You can already access the biodiversity data from Natural Parks of Diputació de Barcelona (DIBA), available in the National and International Data Portals.
The Diputació de Barcelona manages a number of protected areas with an extension of 102,587 hectares and including around a hundred towns where the 70 % of Catalonia population lives. This institution is responsible for the conservation of its biodiversity, the promotion of sustainable socio-economic development and environmental education. Moreover, it cooperates with universities, research institutes, and conservationists organizations. Since the declaration of the first natural park in Catalonia, more than forty years ago, it has collected lots of information. To the date, Diputació de Barcelona is sharing nearly 100,000 occurrences from specific studies and tracking networks which are now available through the GBIF.ES National Data Portal and the GBIF Internationa Data Portal, for the international scientific community and the society in general.

With this contribution, the Spanish participation in GBIF far exceeds 25 million occurrences! There are already 94 Spanish institutions and/or project sharing 280 biodiversity datasets.
