GBIF.ES releases Elysia v2: a software application to manage natural history collections

Elysia is an open source software application developed by the Spanish GBIF Node (GBIF.ES) to digitize and manage botanical and zoological natural history collections. The release of Elysia v2 was published on 10 June 2019. This version includes new features and improvements focused in managing acquisitions, loans, and exchanges of plant specimens, locations, as well as a more direct process to export collection’s data from Elysia to the Darwin Core standard. We have also changed the look and feel of the software and made it easier to find data in several forms.

We want to acknowledge the support received by Silvia Jurado (COFC Herbarium, University of Cordoba), Daniel Aguayo (Zoological Collections, University of Granada) and José García (MGC Herbarium, University of Malaga) who have highly contributed to test Elysia 2.0. The Field Museum of Natural History of Chicago (USA) has also collaborated in the translation of Elysia to English.

A complete user manual of Elysia 2.0 is also available. The support of Silvia Jurado (COFC Herbarium, University of Cordoba) has been crucial for its publication.

The application and the handbook are available for download in the following link: https://gbif.es/en/software/elysia/.
