“The Global Biodiversity Information Facility after 20 years”, first GBIF Director’s Seminar in Madrid

On February 19 Joe Miller – GBIF Executive Secretary – will conduct the seminar “The Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) after 20 years”. This event will take place at 12 pm at the Royal Botanic Garden (RJB-CSIC) in Madrid.

During the lecture, Mr Miller will talk about GBIF as a reference infrastructure providing anyone, anywhere, open access to data about all types of life on Earth. These data are used by the scientific community and policy-makers as reliable information to make their research and management plans addressed to nature conservation. Biodiversity massive data go beyond theorizing environmental problems, allowing us to find effective solutions.

The GBIF Secretary will take the chance to meet representatives from the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation, the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), and the Spanish GBIF Node (GBIF.ES).

Do not miss the opportunity and come to this free and open to the public lecture specially addressed to experts from the field of biodiversity.
