Description

The paleontological collection is integrated by several subcollections. The oldest and more important subcollection is the "Rodrigo Botet" one. It is integrated by more than 5000 fossil remains of pleistocene mammlas from Argentina. This subcollection was formed at the end of XIX century and later donated to Valencia city. The subcollection "Peñalver" was donated in 1989 and is integrated by more than 10000 valuable fossil specimens from all the World. This subcollection distinguished by the wonderfull collection of fossil insects from miocene spanish basins. The subcollection "Otros vertebrados" is integrated by remains of vetebrates from palaeontological outcrops of Valencia Community (Crevillente, Buñol, Venta del Moro and Alcoy). The governmet of Valencia ordered in 1999 that the dinosaur remains of the Valencia Community have to be housed in the Museum (until now, more than 200 specimens).
